Disneyland Half Marathon: Revisited

Hey Mousers!!

For those of you who've been following the latest installments of the RunDisney calendar, the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend wrapped up last week and many runners (some the same) are gearing up towards this weekend's Tinkerbell Half.
Now if you've been with this blog for a bit, you'll remember that the Tinkerbell Half is at fault for me becoming a runner! haha! A year ago this month I went with my cousin down to the event, attended the expo and cheered her on as she finished the race.  This led to me being inspired (and a little jealous), signing up for a training program and finishing my first big race... better known as The Disneyland Half Marathon!

This year, while once again on the sidelines, I'm following along with a ton of runners who are racing at the resort.  Watching/reading all the trip reports and pictures on facebook and instagram make me want to sign up for another Disney Race.  Of course I can't do both airfare and entry, unfortunately, which would get me to a WDW race, but I can sign up for the Disneyland again.

This year, they've "upped the ante" so to speak.  Not only does the Disneyland Half weekend present the famed big race, as well as the family 5k, RunDisney has added an additional race AND a new challenge!!

Everybody say "Oooooooooooooo!"

It's called the "Dumbo Double Dare".
This new challenge includes running the Half Marathon and the NEW RACE, the Disneyland 10K, all in the same weekend.
Yup, you read it right.  You run the 10k (6.1 miles) on Saturday and the Half (13.2) on Sunday.  Sounds like a whole lotta mileage full of Disney fun! (19.3 miles!!)
In comparison the to Goofy Challenge at WDW, runners do the Half and a FULL Marathon all in one weekend.  I don't think I have the stamina to attempt that one quite yet.... much less the Full on it's own.
The cool thing about signing up for the Dumbo Double Dare is that not only do you get to run the new race/receive a finisher's medal as well as the Half/receive a finisher's medal, but by running both races you get not only an extra Dare shirt but also a THIRD finisher's medal once you complete the challenge!!
Talk about bling envy!

After such an incredible time running last years Half, all this excitement and challenge talk has me once again wanting to participate in the race(s).  Not to mention my social media feeds bursting with such fun images of current runners.

The only downside to this particular race is the cost involved.  Signing up for the Double Dare will cost around $280. (Half is $175, 10k is $95) True, it does involve 2 races and the most support you will ever have being in an event like this... but that price tag is enough to make you pause.

What do you guys think?

If I had all the money in the world, I'd jump on it.  But I don't.

Let me know either in the comments or twitter (follow button is in the sidebar), if you guys are thinking of running the Dare.

Have a great weekend!!
